Marsha:
And, dmb, here is what RMP has to say about meditation:
RMP:
"The purpose of mystic meditation is not to remove oneself from experience but
to bring one's self closer to it by eliminating stale, confusing, static,
intellectual attachments of the past. "
Marsha:
There is nothing anti-intellectual suggested in practicing meditation, and it
is a practice for working on the 'self' just as RMP explains the _motorcycle
maintenance metaphor_ to represent:
[Ron]
Well then WHY, when someone here tries to discuss the practice of working on
the 'self' all you do is shout them down
for even considering the 'self' valuable enough to work on? you send post after
post about how the self is an illusion
and not real. A mirage. Why would anyone waste time on a mirage?
Therefore I am not prone to believe there is honosty in these words.
Meditation is a good place to start but it certainly does not end there. When
one works on the 'self' reflection and development
of criticle thinking skills are just as valuable if one wishes to better their
situation.
Sounds to me like there is a hell of alot of back peddeling going on, Ian
included. Just who are these narrow viewed
context 2 SOM ers that Ian is always railing against? He sez he agrees with
Dave B. but thats not what most of his
posts are saying.
If they indeed feel this way, then exactly WHO are they railing against?
Marsha, Ian, who are you railing against if you agree?
