Here's that Buddhist story about meditation that is represented by the small,
blank, polished, onyx tile I wear hanging at my neck.
A Buddhist monk was meditating when his master walked in.
Master: Why are you meditating?
Monk: Because I want to become a Buddha!
The master sat down and started polishing a stone. The curious young monk asked,
Monk: What are you doing?
Master: Trying to turn this stone into a mirror.
Monk: But you can't make mirrors out of stone.
Master: Neither can you become a Buddha by sitting there cross-legged all day!
I love a good contradiction...

I do not see the contradiction, except in your own assertions about meditation.
A buddhist monk is meditating in order to become a buddha
The master says simply meditating will not make one a buddha
Wearing a polished tile would seem to symbolize the point the master makes
that by simply meditating you will not attain buddhahood,
yet your posts keep asserting the essential quality meditation plays in
experiencing
life as it "is" and the attainment of a buddha like knowing.
