Utter tragedy of extinctions? I cry every night over the loss of the smallpox virus. > By the way corporations are a much greater threat to individual liberty than > government ever thought of being. They are also the ones most responsible > for fouling our collective nest. I know. Corporations were responsible for the holocaust. And of course, fallout from state owned nuclear power plants is nothing to be concerned about. If I may chime in - I've been following this post for a while. I have to say that, although I try so hard to see Platt's side of things in an effort to be non-biased, I very rarely go beyond thinking that his rationale is merely politically conservative. Every now and then though there is a flicker of light! So I pose this question that Platt has mentioned. If we are disagreeing about the extinction of certain animals then why do we get so bent when an animal goes away but when a virus goes away (Platt's smallpox) from the same human ways that take away the animal we are joyous? It appears that the MOQ is about life, certainly what life is better than the other in the levels. So how does the human race take precedence over any other living thing? If humans went away couldn't animals live longer (thus "life" live longer?) because they don't war or threaten extinction on another. Sure they use the food chain but does this carry on into another lower member's demise? Please enrich me with your thoughts.
