[Platt]
No, it's not a question of "being bothered." It's a question of truth and
accuracy in journalism. I was let to believe by Jos Laycock that the
Independent held a high reputation in Britain for professional journalism.
So when I read in the head and first paragraph that the NHS was responsible
for the problem, I quite rightly took it to be true. Now I am being told it
wasn't true, and it was my fault to believe that it was. Now I don't know
where you get your ideas for "critical thinking skills," but it seems that
truth is not high on the list.

I've grown accustomed to these personal attacks from the holier than thou
crowd who inhabit academia. But I rest easy, especially in the knowledge of
the outrageous shameful behavior of some 80 odd academics in the Duke rape
case.

[Case]
So Jos praises the publication for effectively communicating to the British
public and you are bent out of shape because it doesn't communicate to
someone who is not British. You might as well criticize Le Monde for
insisting on publishing in French.
