What I meant by handguns was guns individuals can carry as opposed to heavy artillery. I believe both RPGs and Kalasnikovs can be carried by individuals but please correct me if wrong. Also, you will note that I mentioned explosives as a weapon used by terrorists against the the US military. I should have added such explosives are used by Al Quada and other terrorists for mass killings of civilians including school children. > Also, you said; >Since similar school killings have occurred in recent years > in Scotland and > >Germany I think it's simplistic to blame those in the U.S. on a unique > >"culture of > >violence." > In the past 6 years, there have been over 200 fatal school shootings in the > U.S. in the past 6 years alone, with an average of 1 young person dying > every week. > (http://www.theglobeandmail.com/servlet/Page/document/v5/content/subscribe?user_URL=http://www.theglobeandmail.com%2Fservlet%2Fstory%2FLAC.20070417.COLETTS17-1%2FTPStory%2F%3Fquery%3Dnumber%2Bof%2Bschool%2Bshootings&ord=22129502&brand=theglobeandmail&force_login=true) I went to the website but was unable to locate the data you referred to. The murder rate per capita by country is shown in a table at: http://www.nationmaster.com/graph/cri_mur_percap-crime-murders-per-capita The U.S. ranks 24th among the 62 countries listed. My point in naming Germany and Scotland as countries which also have suffered mass school killings was that the killings occurred in spite of very stringent gun laws. There have also been school killings in China. > In the end, I think it was the "loose straw" gene theory. If a crazy person > really wants to kill people, then they can go and do that. The guy was nuts. ------------------------------------------------- This mail sent through IMP: http://horde.org/imp/ moq_discuss mailing list Listinfo, Unsubscribing etc. http://lists.moqtalk.org/listinfo.cgi/moq_discuss-moqtalk.org Archives: http://lists.moqtalk.org/pipermail/moq_discuss-moqtalk.org/ http://moq.org.uk/pipermail/moq_discuss_archive/
