Yeah, it's a bad analogy. There are plenty of reasons I support
responsible gun ownership, from self-defense to hunting to sport target
shooting. But its rather weak to say we arm our citizens with handguns
in the expectation they can use them to overthrow a government. While
this may have been a realistic expectation back in 1790, unless a
militia can get its hands on military weapons, there simply is nothing a
group of citizens with handguns and hunting rifles are going to do. (And
if the military defects, it will be the military that handles the
rebellion).

Hell, guys. Of course you can not wage open war with deer rifles and
hand guns, but they are an advantage
as a means to gain access to said more advanced methods of war making. A
few well trained men equiped with
Bows and knives can gain access to an armory and ammunition. Well
trained hackers can "arrange" any sort
Of accquisition..dare I say, of heavy ordinance in strategic locals.

Lets face it, if a revolt was immenent there would be a few high ranking
leaders with ambitions of power
And the monitary means who have connections in other countries who would
certainly fund their
"intrests" in this "cause" and could give the federal Gov. a run once a
sustained resistence was
established.

After seeing the L.A. Riots I feel better having a few winchesters at my
disposal if the shit
Ever did "hit the fan". It's a hostile world and "peace through superior
fire power" has it's
advantages when defending your family. Being a victim once before, I'd
rather avoid it again
by a show of force than to be peacably raped and murdered. If a few well
aimed reports hastens
the decision to move on to easier prey then I'm for it.
