Hello,
[gav]
> za-zen is zen. spontaneous enlightenment is the go.
I'm not keen on spontaneous and gradual progress
of what enlightenment is, though I've heard of them:
Rinzai and Soto Zen sects respectively. I've heard
enlightenment is always here and has always been our
experience, and in some sects, such as Tibetan
Buddhism enlightenment is declined until all sentient
beings have been released of their suffering. In my
practice, enlightenment does not define itself to me.
What I do is practice 'sitting calmly and
remaining alert'. Whether I've experienced the
enlightenment that is spiritually lineaged from Buddha
to present day masters I don't know, and don't find
this KNOWING to be very significant for me in whether
I continue to practice what I practice or not.
By the way, what do you mean here as follows:
"... is the go."

I continuously practice. You see, by meditation,
I'm referring to what I've learned some to mean 'as
the mind being attentive to something in particular'.
Zazen is not attentive to anything in particular, just
simply attentive. So, what I practice (which may NOT
be zazen) may be just that 'my practice'. During my
practice, when the wind blows and a woodpecker
chatters I'm alert the wind is blowing and a
woodpecker is chattering. When a thought occurs, I'm
alert a thought is occurring. I'm alert to the
ever-changing event where the wind does not last and a
thought does not last. A stick may fall and all will
be quiet after this crack upon the earth.

With practice equanimous is an effort that lasts
just like body fat. When I walk and walk and walk,
eventually I'm hungry again, and my body fat has
decreased tremendously. Thus practice is as eating
equanimous to retain equanimous fat.
Also, the universe is what the body sensation
is, as you've mentioned, this body sensation includes
mind sensation.
How might this be the same or differ from the
practice you've practiced called vipassana?
