Hi Ian

I think we could set my problem out in terms of emergence.
Is not emergence (which is key to DQ I'd suggest) a challenge
to some of our usual naturalist, and immanentist assumptions?

Do we not have to see emergence as offering something forth
from a beyond the immement, otherwise what do we mean by emergence?

For me, this beyond is not supernatural in any over rated sense,
nor some sort of realm of pre-set ideal forms. For me what has to
lie beyond the finite and yet be accessible to the finite so that it can
be dynamic is a source of variation and variety, perhaps infinitely varied.
What else could lie beyond the finite and law bound but the law-free
and unbounded? What lies beyond the actual is infinite possibility.
What can be realised and brought into the actual is what is
possible for us, what cannot be accessed is what is our impossible.
In other universes this possible/impossible distinction could be different,
and as nature (of which we are part) dynamically expands the actuality of
this universe through time, the division between possible/impossible
changes.

For example, I once had a possible chance with Karen Y in the 4th year
but I blew it and made this possibility forever impossible for me.Whereas
Karen Z in the 4th year was never even a possibility! Whilst Karen X became
a no hoper for me in 1976 due to circumstances beyond my control/influence,
etc.
