time shifts, I can dig. But what could have been still has no relation to
this reality, which is now.

Further, the past is not static - it changes continuously in relation to the
present.

Might point would be what could happen is different and
has a form of reality that what could not happen does not have.
It can rain water, it can't rain cats and dogs. The possible is real
and determines where the present can go. The past is merely static
the future the source of the dynamic.
