IMO she chose as she realized she was totally empty, no more life was possible. Can people choose death over life? IMO it is not a choice to choose death it is a mechanical act if life is still possible. Is there a weight to behavior? If I am mostly mechanical, I am rarely conscious. Have I chosen life?
