Dear Miguel: You cannot reflect your points. Human faces are not symmetric (a quick search in Google Scholar or PubMed will show this). I think I recall that there is less sexual selection for symmetry in human males, but strong sexual selection for symmetry in human females. The sexual selection is never strong enough to produce exact symmetry in individuals. Anybody reviewing your paper for publication would immediately suspect your results, if you just mirror your landmarks. Either stick to left sides, or digitize both sides and examine the extent and direction of assymetry with genetic diversity, or between males/females. In a previous research I digitized several landmarks and semilandmarks in the right half of the face, but now I am trying to perform an analysis using the complete face (i.e both halfs), so in order to not digitized again perhaps I can reflect the right landmark configuration on the left side. Since the reflection is performed during the procrustes (GPA) perhaps a particular software allows to reflect the landmark configuration TPS, MorphoJ, GeoMorph etc?? any suggestions? thank you in advance best Miguel ----- End forwarded message ----- ----- End forwarded message -----
