This is our first year for implementing the 1st Grade Kit. It is showing very
steady gains for most children. Personally, I am finding for a few strugglers,
it is moving too quickly and we are using more direct phonics work. It does
seem to meet the rigor of Common Core. There are a ton of resources and it is
very well organized. I would suggest if more than one bldg. is getting it,
conduct one master print job then divide resources amongst buildings. We found
that giant three ring binders work best. Good luck! I do see they have a new
kit for upper grades coming this June!

We have found great success with all three LLI systems. It is best to use the
F/P benchmark assessments as well. The LLI system doe shave a built in running
record assessment component.

As someone who works with RtI, what is the reasoning for only doing third grade?

My school does not have a reading intervention program or a leveled reading
library. We are considering ordering the Blue second grade level of LLI to use
with students who are in third grade and significantly behind in reading. I
would like to hear from those who have experience with this program.

What are the pros and cons? Did you supplement the program with a more direct
instruction phonics program? Is the benchmark assessment really a necessary
component or could you get similar information using other assessments of
reading we currently have?

This forum offers great discussion. I look forward to any info you can share
about LLI and would be happy to receive replies on or off the forum. Thanks!
