This weekend has been active with pretty much what you would expect for this
time of year. A significant number of Fox Sparrow have moved into the area
with the highest number at Rapids Lake MVNWR on Friday. White-throated and
Lincoln's Sparrow were the only other migrant sparrows over the weekend There
were 2 Winter Wrens at Rapids Lake on Friday and 1 at Carver Park this morning
as well as a few House Wrens and a Marsh Wren at Chaska Lake. A
Bonaparte's Gull was at Chaska Lake yesterday with a couple of Ring-billed.
Cormorant numbers have dropped, but Pelicans are still passing through as there
was a flock of about 50 flying over Carver Park this morning. Both
Golden-crowned and Ruby-crowned Kinglets were fairly common over the past few
days. There was still a Rose-breasted Grosbeak and a Catbird hanging around at
Carver Park. Warblers over the past few days have been pretty much the same
wherever I went: Orange-crowned, Yellow-rumped, Palm, and Common Yellowthroat.
