Chaska Lake MVNWR was fairly active with the most warbler I have seen all week.
Warbler this morning were many Commn Yellowthroat, 7 Wilson's, 5 Nashville, 4
Tennesee, 2 Black and White, Black-throated Green, Yellow Warbler, American
Redstart, Ovenbird, and Northern Waterthrush. There were still 3 singing
Warbling, 4 Yellow-throated, 1 Red-eyed, but no Blue-headed or Philadelphia
Vireo. In a shallow area of the Minnesota River there were 17 Least Sandpiper
with some Killdeer. Who knows if there were any ducks on Chaska Lake. I
would have to climb a tree or bring a ladder to see over the reeds surrounding
the lake. A curious Marsh Wren did come out of the reeds to see what a couple
of House Wrens were chattering at(me).

Rapids Lake MVNWR was very quiet yesterday except for several flocks of
American White Pelican coming in totaling about 140 pelican. There were only 4
species of warbler that I found 3 of which only had 1 bird each, Blue-winged,
Tennessee, and Blackburnian. A pair of Sharp-shinned Hawk were hunting an
area where I can normally find some warbler, so that may have kept them away.
There were a couple of peeps on the shore of the river, but they were too far
to identify. A quick stop at Carver Park Thursday afternoon didn't turn up
much. It was very quiet, but I did find Golden-winged, Nashville, Black and
White, and Canada Warbler.
