The problem with this is that, because it's in CVS, this involves checking
in a custom redirect for _every_ file. It also means (even more
annoyingly) that the website tree will still be a mess, as we won't be
able to get rid of any files. There are still "This number has been
disconnected" pages all over the tree from _years_ ago. I want to avoid
that.
(dredges memory) Isn't there a cunning way of getting Apache to do this?
Virtual directories, I think it's called... <checks> Could we use
mod_rewrite?
