Which would be an inadequate platform to build on, also you have to add on 
the development software the time needed to become productive on the 
platform and OS and with the different tools, etc, etc.  An Intel/AMD 
workstation with software costs me around two grand sterling to put 
together for Win32 development, I can recoup that cost with around 1 week's 
work.  There is no requirement for Mac development here in the UK, and 
there never really has been so there is no way I could recoup the investment.

Its a similar story over most of the planet, that has nothing really to do 
with Microsoft, Apple after the II was always a niche market with a high 
entry price for development.
