They've gained the ability to use other helper applications for Mail and 
News rather than having a Messenger window pop up for all mailto: links.  
I know, eventually this will be possible within Mozilla as well (and 
heck, it might be possible today) but until it gets to point where end 
users can figure it out, an install without Mail / News makes sense (and 
that is probably why such an install option exists).

You might want to make your sig opener "dash dash space" as that is the 
standard that programs use to remove signatures from replies.  Just a 
"dash dash" won't do it.
