It's purely a perception issue. Solve 'tons of problems and
complications" ?? Hardly... I'm curious how it would do that
also.
People do associate version numbers with maturity though:
Surely 'browserA v6.0' is *better* than 'browserB v1.0', right
?? Sadly, it's a marketing issue for most companies. Netscape
is doing it with Netscape6 (can I download version 1-5 ??).
Microsoft did it with their office apps. I think they went
from Word 2.x to Word 6.0 and the same with Excel, Outlook,
etc. Why ?? To 'catch up' with WordPerfect.
Why isn't mozilla doing it ?? Likely because mozilla is made
up of *technical* people and not marketing people.
