Because even people can spell make misteaks from time to time.
An automated spell checker will catch them.

Because the problems that cause hunger, disease and poverty are more 
political
in nature and for us (the USA) to fix them would require us to depose the
governments.  When we sent tons and tons of food to Ethopia, it just rotted
on the docs beacuse the country did not have the infrastructure to move the
food to the people that needed it.  This is true around the world.
