On an individual group basis would be nicer I think - that way i can 
distinguish better between several "*.general" groups.

What bugs me about the names at the moment is that because of the 
abbreviations they are ordered really dumb - instead of nz.comp and 
nz.wanted being together, they are separated by netscape.public.general, 
netscape.public.mozilla.mail-news, nz.reg.christchurch.general, and 
nz.reg.hawkes-bay.general.

The default ordering should be as per the hierarchy, and the order 
should be user modifiable. IMHO.
