The need for this is especially noticable when people want to start a
new thread using an email client (as opposed to news client) & they
don't have the mailing list or persons address handy, so they reply to a
previous message from that group/person, clear all fields & start the
new thread. Considerably annoying to see a new thread within another.
The correctness of such an approach is NOT the point - the fact that
many people do this IS!!
One doesn't normally see this being done in usenet groups as most people
(??) access these through news clients that make the process of
itentifying the recipient extremely simple.
