I have been using Mozilla release 2002012208, and have kept two
earlier releases and the first release of IBM Web Browser on the HD
for comparison.

A couple of days ago I downloaded the new IBM Web Browser into
a clean directory after uninstalling the previous version; I exercised

it and saw no problems with it, and it loaded the profile stored in
the
Mozilla_Home directory.

The following day I tried to load it again, and was presented with its

Profile Manager, which offered to migrate the old profiles from
Netscape 4.61 -- it was not seeing the Mozilla_Home profile anymore.

CONFIG.SYS still contains the line SET MOZILLA_HOME=d:\MozillaHome,
but the new browser is unable to see it. I can see it, and as far as I
can tell it seems to be intact. The bookmarks file, for example, has
items in it that I put in only two days ago.

The directory structure in the Mozilla_Home directory is:

MozillaHome
   Mozilla
      Profiles
         SIG
            <randomlynamed>
                Cache
                chrome
                Mail
                NewCache
                plugtmp

Logic, together with wishful/hopeful thinking, tells me that there has
to be a way to fix this, and to recover use of the SIG profile. What
is it?

In addition to the situation as described above, the two Mozilla
releases that I have on the system, which until yesterday also relied
happily on the profile stored in MozillaHome, don't load at all
anymore, and are therefore unusable. Clearly, there was something
important in the former OS2WEB directory that I deleted.

The first release of IBM Web Browser was installed without any
Mozilla_Home setting; its profile was transferred to MozillaHome a few
days later. I thought that, after I set MOZILLA_HOME=d:\MozillaHome
and created a working profile in it, whatever was left in OS2WEB
would no longer affect other Mozilla installations. Apparently I was
wrong.
