Nope. It turned out that the installation of the new WebBrowser had wreaked some unanticipated changed in CONFIG.SYS:
1) A new MOZILLA_HOME setting, pointing to its own directory (without deleting the one that was already there), so that none of the browsers could see the right MOZILLA_HOME directory; 2) A new phrase in the PATH statement, right at the beginning, so that the nightly releases were pointed to incorrect directories; 3) A new phrase in the LIBPATH statement, right at the beginning, so that <ditto>. All this on a system which had a working older WebBrowser. It never dawned on me that replacing one WebBrowser with another would involve such things. Both problems were solved by removing the new references from PATH and LIBPATH and So the questions that arise are: 1) Although making changes in CONFIG.SYS is not unusual, most installers that do this have enough sense to see first if there is already a statement present that would be superceded by the new one; 2) If the system was working before without the phrases in PATH and LIBPATH, and is working now with them removed, why was it necessary for the installation to insert them? 3) Why do these changes, dictatorial as they are, remind me of Microsoft's way of making up the user's mind for him?
