No, it wouldn't. The Linux version of Mozilla allows to just install
the browser, without Mail+News and Chatzilla. But the startup and
browsing are just as fast or slow as with the full install, because the
necessary shared libraries for Mail+News are just loaded when you first
open the mail window.
You can try that out for yourself, delete all DLLs of your Warpzilla
which have to do with mail. (If you dig out some old posts, you will
find one by Mike Kaply with details which DLLs to delete.) You will not
see any speed difference, at least I didn't, and I have a pretty old
and slow machine...
