I just recently met with Orlin Miller with the University and one of his
key staff regarding this new facility. There has been an interest on
behalf of the MPRB that when these kind of joint efforts happen that
somehow Park Board and Minneapolis Youth programs somehow benefit either by
use of the facility or some other programmatic partnership. Last week
Boston McKinley reported to the Park Board about his project to link city
youth with the University. This is a good thing.
As far as the sight lines and planning details go Dean is right. I did go
around with them a little bit on the placement of the toilets, making sure
where the trees will be and always questioning where is the parking and how
much? I feel we have good, considerate dialogue when we meet with the
Univ. on these items.
