Before I comment, I'll say that I wholeheartedlly agree that the park police
should be maintianed as a seperate police force, if for no other reason,
simply for the sake of having at least one police force that is accountable
to someone. That being said, I and many other people have exprienced
harassment from the Park Police, although admittedly to a lesser degree.
They still harass people in parks at night, and there was a park police
officer involved in the shooting of Abuka Sanders, though I am uncertain as
to how this officer was involved, can anyone enlighten me? Also, I'm sure
there are many others besides myself who think that closing off the parks at
10:00pm is way too early as we increasingly become more of a "nightlife"
city. I'd be interested in hearing comments on this issue of those running
for the park board or for that matter anyone else.
