Today while my son and three friends were fishing at Lake Harriet, two
men in a car stopped nearby and took pictures of the boys. The boys
think the man taking the pics was the sex offender reported to be in
Loring Park in June and wanted on a Hennepin County warrant.
When the boys were making the report to the Park Police officer at Lake
Harriet, he told them that the Park Police had not been informed that
there was a sex offender in the area. He asked them if it was in the
paper! According to the water safety director, none of the Park Board
staff were informed.
How can this be? Think of the territory Park Board staff from police
through maintenance workers cover throughout the city. But they aren't
informed by their departments to watch for a missing criminal that
Minneapolis police are spreading the word about because he is a be a
level three predatory sex offender?
