There was an interesting press release about a year ago from the city (I
forget which department ... probably health) suggesting that a
neighborhood's incidence of sexually transmitted diseases is linked to its
level of physical deterioration. The release cited the "broken windows"
theory from crime prevention and a study from out of state which I wasn't
able to track down.
