Ms. Becker's been around long enough to avoid straw men - or women - in pursuit of her candidate's interest. She knows the campaign laws, while not wise in this, allow independent expenditures as long as the candidate's campaign are not involved in the planning or placement of materials generated by those monies.
Rybak was endorsed by the cops, so a published piece or slate is hardly a surprise; Annie Young just posted her puzzlement over a police endorsement she never screened for. Either on purpose or by ignorance, even subtle allusions to unethical behavior by one's opponent when they not true betrays a desperation and/or lack of faith in her ability to win.
