Internet was invented to >further research, yet most of what it does now >isnt remotely like research.
Actually, the internet wasn't invented to further research. The internet was an investment created in partnership between the armed forces, the US Government and universities as a way to store information, electronically, in a non-central location. This was to ensure that Soviet/Communist hackers would be unable to access a central location and have complete access to all government and military information. The University of Minnesota was an internet pioneer (gopher system). It wasn't until the 90's that the internet became more research centered, and it wasn't until the release of the World Wide Web that the internet really became a viable tool for broad research. There you have it. -Brandon Lacy -Powderhorn Park _______________________________________ Minneapolis Issues Forum - A Civil City Civic Discussion - Mn E-Democracy Post messages to: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subscribe, Unsubscribe, Digest option, and more: http://e-democracy.org/mpls
