Although it's not as high-profile as the war, there's been surprisingly little debate about the Park Board possibly closing wading pools near the lake.
And I echo Annie's question: if you restore the 50K saved, where else do you find the savings?
Here's one idea:
Start by cutting the park board salaries by 50%, or perhaps more. I am unable to locate a reasonably accurate figure for what the amounts are, or I'd be happy to be more specific.
Then starting at the top, reduce salaries by 10% until you either have the $50,000 needed to keep the pools open, or until you hit the salary of the individual who is making less than half the top salary.
