This is more rural wildlife than urban wildlife, but one year my husband found a rooster in the middle of Nicollet in south Mpls. (A refugee from a cockfighting house, perhaps?) It took him 20 minutes to catch the bird with his jacket. He brought him home in the truck and we kept him in the old coal room for a week until Mike was able to bring him out to a farm run by his parents' friends. "Chicken George" has probably passed on by now but I hope he lived a happier life.
I have friends who have chickens in their backyard. They live in Longfellow and have had the chickens for 4 or 5 years now. They got them as chicks and there was one rooster in the bunch. As the rooster got older there were neighborhood complaints about the noise so he is no more. I never asked what they did with the rooster (though I'm certain it's not the same one you found - they wouldn't have just let it go).
