I live by the Birchwood Cafe where cars parked on both sides of the street
and people with coffee cups tend to effectively slow traffic on E. 25th.
There is a large area between Como and E.Hennepin that was "S" curved adding
green space and landscaping.( So to get to the end of 15th you have to start
on 14th). I lived in that area for while and really liked that idea. From a
driver's perspective you can't go fast and don't want to go fast and avoid those
as through streets.

I also like the speed bumps on West River Road by the U. at the Bohemian
Flats. They are effective in reminding folks of the 25m.p.h. speed limit. There
are milder speed bumps up and down river.

Pedestrian cross walks are ignored by most motorists. They are not even
looking at the pedestrian crossing signs. We did a traffic calming event that was
very mildly aggressive. It is always amazing that some think there is an
inalienable right not to have to lift their foot off the gas pedal.

Also in my neighborhood is a pretty severe attempt at traffic calming.
Rainbow Foods responded to a pedestrian fatality by installing 12" speed bumps on a
public road. Fortunately there are three muffler shops close by.

Thanks,
Scott Vreeland Seward
