Steve Brandt: Although I agree with Mark that there are social ills associated with alcohol, I would argue that the availability of growlers does not exacerbate the drunken driving problem. Growlers typically are purchased by beer connoisseurs, rather than college kids and street drunks. That's because the quality of the beer is higher and they're more expensive. It seems to me that someone who stays at a brewpub and drinks is more likely to cause a traffic hazard than someone who purchases a growler and takes it home to split with family and neighbors over a barbecue. To answer Barb Lickness' perhaps tongue-in-cheek question, a growler is half the size of a galloon of milk, so it fits easily in the fridge. Steve Brandt Kingfield REMINDERS: 1.
