http://www.startribune.com/stories/462/4350008.htmlJust to emphasize the 9 - 3 vote, so that we know who the guilty parties are:
Robert Lilligren Opposed Natalie Johnson Lee Opposed Dean Zimmerman Opposed
Dan Niziolek Abstain
Paul Ostrow For Paul Zerby For Donald Samuels For Barbara Johnson For Lisa Goodman For Gary Schiff For Scott Benson For Sandy Colvin Roy For Barret Lane For
Mayor R.T. Rybak doesn't vote, of course, but he did warn the council members that if they didn't vote for the proposal they would be telling Allina they did not want them to be here in the city. So clearly, Rybak is a "For."
Voting For approval of the concept means the city will spend more money on the 35W Excess project, and that it can more easily move forward as currently designed.
I praise Lilligren, Johnson Lee and Zimmerman for their courage. They stood up for what is right and best for the citizens of Minneapolis.
Those who are unable to stand up to the demands of lobbyists, bureaucrats and political rain makers take the coward's course of action, instead of the right course.
I like my public servants to serve the public, not corporate interests.
