WM: The Taxpayers League does not need to be the focus here. The discussion gives them press. Although the press hasn't done what I'd call a bang-up job on this either. Actually, Ellie Kidder said it best: 'why do I have to own a car when I live in a city?'
Are you aware that there are people, even Minnesota born, who never got a driver's license because there was bus service?
Are you aware that no matter how you slice it, owning a car is much more expensive than taking the bus? Plus every time it snows you have to find someplace to put it.
The MCTO bus service is a diminishing resource. Fifteen years ago then MTC sent out 825 buses every rush hour. Now they send out 700, according to the Strib.
It's also parochial in the worst sense to pretend to be a city without transit service or without adequate transit service.
