I did see a transit Police officer stop a woman in a van at Hiawatha and 26th coming out of downtown -seemed very odd to me? The train wasn't anywhere around and there are no buses at that intersection - it is close to their headquarters but the gal was traveling south and pulled over in the left lane going south. Maybe she made a weird left turn or something but I sure thought it was odd.

I'm just guessing, since I have no idea where you saw the cops and what they were doing at the time, but they may have been en route between their HQ (which is near Minnehaha and Franklin) and one of the facilities where ATU members are picketing. Their job right now is to guard Metro Transit property around the clock. They may also have been checking bus stops and shelters for vandalism.

There have been two squad cars parked by the Heywood garage at
all times while I've been picketing there. They mostly sit and watch the
building, and take a spin around the perimeter now and then.

The transit cops have been friendly and sympathetic. They face the same
health care issue that we do, but they're not allowed to strike.
