Just to clarify
Doug Mann has NOT been endorsed by the members of the Service Employees International Union (SEIU).
Instead, the 8,000 members of SEIU in Minnesota (including the MPS custodians and food service workers) were pleased to endorse Peggy Flanagan and Denny Schapiro for the Minneapolis School Board.
I would like to personally single out Peggy Flanagan for her strong statements of support for workers rights to organize. This commitment to protecting workers rights is sorely needed on the school board. Current school board members have shown a reluctance to publicly condemn the union-busting tactics of Minneapolis Public Schools contractors such as the school bus company Septran, which recently threatened immigrant workers and committed other illegal, unfair labor practices during an organizing campaign at their company.
I would encourage any of you who are attending the upcoming Minneapolis DFL Convention to give Peggy a pat on the back and congratulate her for taking a stand while incumbents remained silent or minced words.
