Because I get the list in digest form, I have no way of knowing whether
list members have commented on the Basim Sabri story in the Metro
section of the Strib. The story begins: "The U.S. Supreme Court on
Monday struck down a challenge by developer Basim Sabri, who sought to
dismiss (sic) a federal indictment accusing him of trying to bribe
former City Council Member Brian Herron." The verdict was unanimous,
which, in itself, may be the most interesting aspect of this
precedent-setting case. Sabri is apparently now likely to be required
to defend himself against the bribery charges in a Minneapolis court.
There has been some talk that these original charges were widened as
Sabri pursued his appeals through the federal courts.
