A little more info on the increased traffic on Minnehaha Parkway over Hiawatha.
The highway 5 bridge over the river is down to one lane in each direction
for July and August, causing major delays. Many people are taking the
(unofficial) Ford bridge detour. They then take Minnehaha to avoid the
screwed up 46th Street intersection at Hiawatha.
Of course, taking the Ford Bridge is its own little nightmare, being narrowed to 2 lanes from 4, and a rather breath-taking drop off on the south side if one is at all afraid of heights.
Hey, it's the other season than Winter in Minnesota: Road Construction. You can't go anywhere without hitting it.
It might make sense to make the 46th Street LRT crossing not at grade -- with the money we don't have, of course.
