Fine, if the responders to my challenges want to talk unions, then let's do it: the
unions in government need to go because the voters need to have a more direct control
over how their employees get paid. Remember, it's different from the private sector,
because no one is making big money in government--almost everything government does
loses money.

PUBLIC SECTOR UNIONS SHOULD BE ELIMINATED. I have emailed Pawlenty about this and he
has never responded.

That being said, I'm not for paying them too little, but the reality is that the
fiscal conservatives are in control of the state and the only way to keep kids out of
drugs is to cut public sector pay. If you work for a business, you probably have had a
pay cut--up to and over 50%. LIFE IS HARD FOR EVERYBODY. It's the same as the bus
strike: a bunch of people who can get a private sector job if they wanted it who
instead decided to try to squeeze us for more money. Maybe library workers would need
to be employed in another industry, but EVERYBODY has had to change industries, so I'm
not too sympathetic.

So that's what I think about unions. Libraries are there to serve patrons, not
employees. Employees can be replaced. I bet many people would be willing to do that
job for less money, so they should shut their mouths.

As for Ms. Wittstock accusing me of personal attacks, that's not a personal attack. I
believe that you are not responding realistically to the situation at hand. I don't
think you're necessarily a bad person; I don't know you. What I do know is that from
your commentary, you're not getting my vote next year. Of course, if you want to get
personal, you were elected solely by Mr. Rybak, so we have yet to see if the public
agrees with your stand on the issues.
