Here's a quick recap / update on the shoefiti scene: Old News 1. There are shoes hanging from powerlines in Minneapolis 2. We do not know why they're there 3. I have some theories on why they're there. 4. Regardless, they should come down. 5. Xcel Energy is responsible for the powerlines. 6. Xcel Energy used to remove shoes when requested until Ed Kohler started reporting shoes in more dangerous areas of South Minneapolis. 7. #5 applies citywide, which makes #6 an interesting situation.
New News 8. Xcel has not responded to a customer service request from me asking how they'd like to handle & receive communications related to shoefiti. 9. A pair of shoes in Uptown has been reported. It will be an interesting test case to see if they come down before shoes reported as far back as March 28th in Phillips and Central. 10. Offline emails I've received from people living in affected neighborhoods have reinforced my belief that shoefiti does correlate with nefarious activity. I still don't know exactly how, but that's part of the fun of cracking this nut. 11. I'm currently only aware of 10 shoefiti issues in Minneapolis between Uptown, Phillips, and East Nokomis. My guess is this could be resolved in less than 2 hours by Xcel using trucks that are already in the neighborhoods. It's such an easy problem to solve. - Ed Kohler Trying to Lighting a Fire Under Xcel Energy from Cooper REMINDERS: 1. Be civil! Please read the NEW RULES at http://www.e-democracy.org/rules.
