The arrogance of many Island residents is reprehensible! Who were the
"Bozo's" who decided to build condos on the Island? Who was responsible for
"bad public policies which seek to privatize our parks"? Who was "invited" to
purchase a real estate tax free condo on the Island, in an obvious sweetheart
deal, and who was not? Was anyone on this list, other than the privileged few,
invited to purchase a condo on the Island? Please enlighten me if I am wrong.
To hell with the kids and DeLaSalle! Having said that I hope I can be
considered for a condo on the Island if and when one becomes available. Being
a member of a closed, elitist and bigoted community would be a small price to
pay to be saved from the noise and disruption of listening to kids playing
sports and others cheering them on, from a stadium, on "MY Island!
Don't belong to the Minneapolis DFL power brokers and do not subscribe to
the Jackie Cherryhome school of real estate investment. Don't have much chance
of getting my "dream home".
If DeLaSalle loses this one they should cash in their chips after 106 years,
sell to a Torah Academy or Moslem school, either of which would no doubt be
welcomed by Island residents with open arms, in the interest of diversity, and
move to a place they would not have to share with an "elitist corp. of impudent
snobs".
Of course it is doubtful the academy or school would welcome the "riffraff"
educated at DeLaSalle over the last 100 years. But then there would probably
not be a demand for a football or soccer field from the polished intellectuals
the academy and school would attract. The only students seemingly acceptable
to the Island elite.
Why no one can see this impasse by the Island residents for what it is,
pure and simple, "I got mine and you can't have yours", I don't understand.
Let the wisdom of Solomon prevail. Clear the Island COMPLETELY, leave it
solely to the fauna and flora. Humans NOT welcome!

No dog in this fight but tired of reading Island residents trying to take the
high road in what is nothing more than greed and parochialism.
