I'm not certain who all the big numbers of Nicollet Island residents are whose posts George Jannsen is so tired of reading; I haven't gone back to the archives to count, but my recollection is only four, perhaps five very knowledgeable posters listing a Nicollet Island location. Most of the rest of those posts I recollect on DeLaSalle subject threads come from somewhere else and they far outnumber the list members who live on the island. Most of the posts in support of the DLS stadium seem to come from folks with DLS connections and the far greater number are from folks who think the agreement demonstrates poor MPRB management/stewardship.
I've finally gotten around to reading the Environmental Assessment Worksheet and, IMHO, I see insurmountable hurdles for DLS. The stadium boosters have their work cut out for them because the Reciprocal Agreement between DLS and MPRB is contingent on DLS getting positive findings to support project approval from several city and state entities that I believe they are unlikely to get easily or any time soon. Jannsen should be grateful that he does not have to read all the comments on the project to the Responsible Government Unit. One of my favorite clauses of the agreement reads "MPRB and DeLaSalle each agree to proceed diligently as in good faith to perform its obligations under this Agreement, time being of the essence." I think next year's MPRB will proceed much more diligently and faithfully than this years, and none of the city and state folks responsible for moving the project along towards approval or denial are likely to consider it any time before next year. Time is indeed of the essense; the archaeological programs alone needed to determine the extent of the impacts of the DLS project could take years. DLS would do well to seriously consider alternatives they have previously rejected or not considered if they want to stick to their proposed schedule. Bill Kahn tired of the smoking thread, et al, in Prospect Park, but still read'm REMINDERS: 1. Be civil! Please read the NEW RULES at http://www.e-democracy.org/rules.
