No dog in this fight but tired of reading Island residents trying to take
the high road in what is nothing more than greed and parochialism.
Longfellow
Seems to me that you have missed the fact that the high road of greed and
parochialism is being well represented by the parochial school and NOT the
residents, George. If this were really about the kids of DeLaSalle and not
the board of the school flexing muscle there would be serious discussion of
a stadium with track and two sets of bleachers just across the river in Boom
Island--a lot closer than the stadiums of North High and Patrick Henry to
their schools. This was brought up by the two professional landscape
architects on the CAC one of whom is the grandson of Theodor Wirth, Ted
Wirth. Ted is also the one who designed Boom Island Park.
There has been no flexibility from school management on this and yet their
plan requires the tennis team to give up their courts and the track team to
continue to lack home facilities.
Go back and read them again, George, and I hope that this time you put the
hubris where it really belongs.
