Neither of these options work when the shutdown was initiated from ConfigMgr.

There was a big thread on this list a few months back about it. I’ll see if I
can find it.

Once a shutdown has been initiated, these two will have no effect on it. The
system has already been issued a shutdown with a time. Only option is to abort
the shutdown with a shutdown /a

Is there a way to stop the restart?

Chris,

Sorry – that is a different dialog than I thought you meant. If you schedule an
operating system shutdown using shutdown.exe -i, then you can cancel it with
shutdown -a.

The restart UI that you’re seeing is coming specifically from the Configuration
Manager client agent. I’m not currently aware of a method of suppressing that
restart. I could do some digging, but I am not sure if the capability even
exists.

Cheers,

Trevor Sullivan

I thought it might be that easy but didn’t try.

Just tried now and get this.

If this is ConfigMgr prompting the reboot though, you may have to remove the
deployment before it reboots. Make sure the machines update policy as well so
they know not to run.

You should be able to abort timed shutdowns using shutdown.exe -a.

Subject: [mssms] Is it possible to stop a timed reboot?

I deployed IE9 to all of our production servers and set timers of when these
deployments should go off. Two of them worked correctly while the other ten
decided to deploy whenever they wanted. Now on these ten servers there’s a
message that the server will reboot in x amount of hours. Is there a way I can
stop this reboot from happening?

Thanks,
