Looks like you mean an XLR plug. Used for transmitting a balanced signal,
ie. the signal is transmitted using three lines: signal, inverted signal
and ground.
Advantage of having both signal and the inverted signal is that noise in
spike form will be automagically filtered out when the two signals are
combined.
