Japanese do copy games but they don't have to because the second hand
games market in Japan is huge. For instance, when a game has just been
released don't be surprised if you can buy it second hand the next day
or next week because some Japanese otaku has already finished it. It can
save you much money if you buy second hand stuff in Japan. Most things
will be sealed again en will only be sold if all is complete (e.g. with
all stickers, merchandising, manuals etc.). Only the collectors items
(e.g. SD Snatcher) will be sold if incomplete. The more complete a
collectors item is, the more money it costs. If something is incomplete
and not an collectors item the Japanese will sell it for very little
(e.g. 160 yen for Ginder II the way to galactic hero = about 3 guilders)
In tokyo there are stores were you can by modchips for psx. They also
still sell second hand msx games. Why settle for a copy if you can have
the original at half or a quarter of the original price?
