Reset your MSX with a joystick? It shorts the 5V to ground and that is a
sure way to reset, and with some luck blow up the power supply.
Be careful with the joystick ports: it is easy to blow up the ports and just
as easy to blow up your power supply. So check and doublecheck these
joystick connections.

Direction and button 1 are compatible yes.
Fire button 2 isn't !!!
The defacto-standard of digital joysticks in those days only discribed
this 5 input pins and ground. Al the other extra's added (like the
second fire button) vary greatly amongst constructors. They kind of at
random chose some 'free' pins on the connector to implement the extra's
Example: If you have an old atari 2600 around you can reset your MSX by
pushing the right fire button (Although it could damage your computer ?)
I think that they shortcircuit the MSX inputsignals to ground or
something like that.
