Hmmm... definitely worth thinking about, do many games make use of it?

Getting closer :) It has space for the SFG sound module too - the
Russian one has a network module (based on MIDI), and it should swap
over.

Ahhhh ;) Easy. Get a reasonably wide, but thin, flat bladed screwdriver,
and pot the machine on it's side. Apply a little separating force to the
top and base, and very carefully unhook each of the four clips on the
back (there are four slots) You don't need to shove the screwdriver
right in, there's a knack to it, but I took my pristine, never been
opened, but very dusty one apart to clean it and didn't make a single
mark on it.

The page on HansO's site has all that information, and it is 8 ICs on
the motherboard - M3764A-15 is listed, at IC30/1,2,3,4,5,6,9,10 - and
then two 41464s to replace the 41416s (In the instructions, MB81416-12
replaced by MB81464-12). A wire is connected to the DRAM, perhaps
because the 16K VRAM board doesn't have the address line you mentioned,
though no wiring mods are made to the motherboard since one would
assume, the addressing is already in place, just ignored on the MSX1
schematics. Fundamentally, CX5MII motherboards /are/ MSX2s, with the
9938 and 3527 engine.

Richard (who, if he could solder, would add the VRAM).
